What is a CAO, actually?
A CAO is a Dutch collective labour agreement: deals between unions and employers about pay, allowances and working hours. For many sectors the CAO has been declared universally binding — then it applies to everyone working there, including you.
Which CAO applies to me?
Usually the CAO of the sector you work in — you can find it on your payslip or in your contract. Working through a temp agency? Then the CAO of the company where you actually work counts. In the app you simply pick your type of work, CAO·Check does the rest.
My sector is not listed yet — what now?
We start with transport and logistics, open teelten (field work), cleaning and retail (non-food) — also via temp agencies. More sectors are added step by step. Mail us which CAO you are missing: user wishes decide what we build first.
Can my employer see what I enter?
No. Your data stays yours. We pass nothing on to employers, temp agencies or authorities — that is a promise and our policy.
Is this official pay advice?
No — CAO·Check gives a gross indication based on the official CAO texts. Your payslip may differ slightly. But you do see right away if it roughly adds up.
The app shows a difference from my payslip. What now?
Don't assume the worst — there may be a good explanation, for example overtime that is paid out one period later. First ask your employer or temp agency calmly; with your clocked hours you stand strong. If you can't work it out, a union or the Juridisch Loket can help for free.
Why do I see gross and not net?
Because the CAO regulates your hourly wage and your allowances in gross terms — that is what you can check. How much net remains depends on tax and your personal situation. For the question whether your pay is right, gross is exactly what you need.
Forgot to clock in or out?
No stress. You can add or adjust any shift afterwards — date, times and break. The app simply calculates with the new times.
Do I have to track my breaks?
Yes, and it is one button — the same one you clock in with. The app calculates with your real breaks, not with a flat estimate.
I don't speak Dutch — can I use the app?
Yes. The whole app exists in nine languages: Dutch, English, German, Polish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latvian and Spanish. Every explanation and every message — not just the buttons.
Does it work on my phone? Do I need to install anything?
It works on any phone with a browser — iPhone or Android. You put CAO·Check on your home screen in two taps, just like a normal app. The app stores are coming soon.
Where is my data stored, and is it safe?
On secured servers in the EU (Germany). We sell nothing, we share nothing, and there are no ad trackers. You can delete your account and all your data yourself at any time.
Does the app also work without internet?
Yes. Every clock press is first saved on your phone and then sent to us — with internet this takes a few seconds, without signal it waits until you are online again. The time always comes from your phone. So clocking works in the warehouse, on the road or abroad; if the clock-out of a shift only reaches us more than a day later, that is marked in your overview and export.
How do I cancel?
In the app, with one click. No phone call, no letter, no small print.
